- You'll be using Google Drive to produce all of your writing. You don't have to be connected always (you can download the app), but being able to work online helps. Because there's a desktop as well as mobile device app, you can do work from multiple devices, from anywhere. So that's a plus. You'll access others' writing with Google Drive, too, and offer (and get) feedback. Finally you'll use Google Sites to put together a portfolio of your revised work near the end of the term.
- We'll use a site called Padlet from time to time. It's a cool, free writing tool.
If you don't have regular access at home to the internet, there are some ways to be resourceful and organized:
- Our campus is well-equipped with internet-connected machines. Your local library probably is, too. At least familiarize yourself with hours of availability, just in case something weird happens with your normal home connection?
- Take my advice and have Chrome as an additional browser on your home machine, or at least something other than Internet Explorer. Please. I beg you.
- I pick the applications I do because they work well on mobile devices. Seriously, try them. Being able to do work easily from anywhere is really helpful!
- I recommend having your student e-mail account set up on your phone, if you don't already, and when we create Google accounts (if you don't already have one), I recommend having that set up too.
